		DECIBEL 3 as an Integrated Part of Floor Structures

The need for effective acoustic solutions has a steady demand and BBR's requirements that came a few years ago has forced new solutions and ideas to evolve. Our answer to the problems has been the DECIBEL3 mat that has been designed to be used as an integrated part of different floor structures and thus create a good level of impact sound and muffling of airborne sound.
The mat may be combined with a number of sheet materials, but above all our tried and trusted structure proves to be extra useful when the mat is installed under trowelling. Today, we call this structure SoundSeal.
The balance between plastic and elastic qualities of the DECIBEL3 mat combined with a high density makes it custom-made for its acoustic mission.

Moreover, it has, like the other mats in the DECIBEL selection, an extremely long useful life due to resistibility to chemical breaking down and also to wear when subjected to dynamic and static load. All these qualities are, of course, extremely important when a product is to be integrated as a permanent part of a floor structure.

	The Acoustic Problems

	The acoustic problems normally found in floor structures are related to impact and airborne sound, because there are acoustic requirements that should be met when building new constructions and renovating. A low height of the finished floor in new houses is often desired and old floor structures are often acoustically poor due to the construction. This is especially true when we speak about old light structures (e.g. loft ceiling beams) where the impact sound level vertically generally is a problem. These problems have a low frequency and they are often difficult to take care of effectively. With our SoundSeal structure we solve most problems.
