DECIBEL 2 Acoustic Mat

DECIBEL2 is designed to be combined with floating parquet flooring, solid as well as lamel, and laminated flooring. The acoustic mat may also be an integrated part in different floor structures, and then mainly as an alternative to the DECIBEL3 mat where the finished floor height is a critical point. DECIBEL2 can also be used under textile flooring. Depending on combination and design the strength in DECIBEL2 is within the fields of impact sound, airborne sound, drum sound and parquet resonance.

  The Acoustic Problems

Within the field "parquet flooring" one could generally say that the thinner the parquet is the worse the drum and impact sound will be. Furthermore, a parquet resonance problem is created when the flooring is floating.

Also the drum sound may be amplified by a floating parquet construction. If the floating parquet construction is circumvented in order to find a solution to a possible drum sound and parquet resonance the impact sound will worsen. One has to find a balance for the best possible result.

Often, relatively extreme constructions are needed to find a solution to the acoustic problems, and what we mean is extreme is that the height of the finished floor is too high, which may be an impossible element when rebuilding and renovating.
