As mentioned before it is possible to achieve good drumsound reduction on
parquet floors by glueing them onto the underlay. The problem with this method is that poor impact sound reduction is the side
effect. That leads to the fact that results are more or less reversed in comparison to a floating parquet floor. |

During the last years there has been a tremendous increase in the use of glued
parquet floors. Apart from the drumsound qualities mentioned above the new
elastic parquet adhesive has contributed to a better function like less swelling/
shrinkage which is one important factor.
We have developed a construction that makes it possible to have good drum
sound readings and at the same time have a great reduction of the impact sound.
The construction is foremost intended for solid mosaic parquet (e.g. art Mosaik).
The construction is based on a DECIBEL1 mat being glued to the underlay with
ordinary floor and wall adhesive. Subsequently, the solid parquet is glued to the
mat with an elastic parquet adhesive. We recommend our art Mosaik and art
Parquet adhesive to guarantee proper functioning. Please, look for more
information concerning our products in the
art Wood collection.
The additional advantages of the construction are among other things increased
comfort and simplified stripping once the floor should be replaced. |

Impact Sound |

To make it possible to compare different methods of application for
glued parquet, we have performed measurements on a regular beam and slab floor
with the following results: |

Type of Parquet and Method
of Application |
Index of Impact Sound
Improvement |
art Mosaic parquet (8mm's)
glued with waterbased parquet adhesive on the concrete surface |
∆L'n,w = 4 dB |
art Mosaic parquet (8mm's) glued with elastic
parquet adhesive on the concrete surface* |
∆L'n,w = 7-8 dB |
art Parquet board (16mm's) glued with elastic parquet adhesive
on the concrete surface |
∆L'n,w = 8 dB |
art Mosaic parquet (8mm's) glued on DECIBEL1
according to the instructions above |
∆L'n,w = 16 dB |

* When using elastic parquet glue there is a risk
that the parquet is pressed down so it will be in
direct contact with the subconstruction and that
could reduce the improvement regarding impact
sound. |
