art Specification of the Assortment |
| |
| |
Prime: |
| |
This assortment grade is characterised by a uniform
colouring with a "soft" graining. The grade is free from discoloured
heartwood/sapwood, and also free from knot-holes and wormholes. |
| |
| |
Nature: |
| |
This grade reflects the variation of the countryside
where consideration for the variation of the colour and graining of
the tree is taken into account. The grade is, however, free from the
parts with the greatest variation of colour and also bigger knots.
The assortment grade is the most easily adapted because it is rather
"full of life" and at the same time quiet. |
| |
| |
Rustic: |
| |
This grade offers a more diversified variation of
colours through its elements of heartwood and sapwood. Knots are
present but are most obvious in oak. The diversification of the
grade gives a warm and rustic exterior. |
| |
| |
The variation of colour that is present in different
woods is due to a number of reasons. E.g. the "discolouring" of the
oak often consists of lighter elements of sapwood from the outer
layer, while the "discolouring" of the ash often is due the fact
that heartwood have resulted in darker elements. The assortments
grades should be regarded as a guide. Mother nature does not always
abide the given rules and there may be a certain measure of
variation. |
| |
|
Observe: |
| |
Although there are a number of
assortment grades the quality and function of the product is not
affected. The requirements for the drying process and the tolerances
are the same irrespective of the grade. |
